Abstract
Public spaces in Kreuzberg are widely used by the community and have become places of gathering, demonstrations, and resistance. Informed by its history, the neighborhood has developed a bottom-up culture of resistance to imposed controls and changes that negatively affect the community. The current protest movements in the neighborhood are visible through the examples of the organizations: Bizim Kiez, Wrangelkiez United!, and Görli Zaunfrei!. They are organizations currently resisting gentrification, police controls, and migrant discourse. The public space becomes a location where these protests appear, increasing the visibility for protest movements.
