Department Chair: Marc Forster
Our courses explore the forces of political and social power, the dynamics of statecraft for empires and nations, the history of sexuality, democracy in theory and action, racism and anti-racist movements, the global origins of banking and finance, human mobility across time, cultural and countercultural movements, religious practice, networks, ideology, and institutionalization, the history of science and medicine, and numerous other themes. Members of the history department work closely with students, supervising independent research projects, senior theses and independent studies.
