Lyrics
I will return he said to me;
I will come back, my love, to thee;
When nature smiles, on land and sea,
I will return again to thee.
Refrain:
When the Robins nest again,
And the flowers are in bloom,
When the springtime's sunny smile,
Seems to banish all sorrow and gloom,
Then my bonnie blue eyed lad,
If my heart is true 'til then,
Has promised he'll return to me,
when the Robins nest again.
Life seems so bright
when in thought I'm with thee,
Come love, hasten, come back to me;
We'll build our nest with the Robins in springtime,
Donald! return, love to me.
Last night in a dream,
I saw his proud ship wreck'd at sea,
And I felt that my heart's dear love,
Could never come back to me.
But the springtime and Robins will come,
And with them the bravest of men,
For his last words were, darling, I'll meet you
When the Robin's nest again.
