Abstract
I interned for the Maine Department of Education. Specifically, I worked in the Commissioner’s office with the Communications and Legislative teams. This summer, all DOE employees were working remotely. The mission of the Maine Department of Education is to “promote the best learning opportunities for all Maine students by providing information, guidance, and support to our schools, educators, and leaders and by providing adequate and equitable school funding and resources.” Since I worked for two teams, my responsibilities varied from day to day. Some of my biggest responsibilities included revamping the professional development calendar on the DOE’s website, working on the 129th Legislative Session Publication, writing “Good News” articles to be posted and shared on the DOE’s social media pages and their website, working with the Commissioner’s Student Cabinet, and update the DOE’s COVID Resources webpage.
