Abstract
With the help of some of RootDown LA's youth staff, I wrote a research paper on the correlation between thriving local food systems and mental health/community well-being. The paper incorporated some of my own family’s history in the California dairy farming landscape, as well as original field work we completed in local neighborhoods in South Los Angeles (done mostly through the youth staff who I had collaborated with on this project). I had come up with all the survey questions I wanted them to ask others, but since I was unable to go out to Los Angeles myself, they were able to help me out in that way by venturing out into the community and collecting the data I needed.
