Abstract

Steward School is an elementary school in Topsfield, MA that serves children from pre-K to third grade. I made an informative tool for teachers and parents to talk to their children and students about COVID-19 which included information about the immune system, how viruses function to cause illness, and why social distancing is important. I made this tool based on information I had learned in biology and immunology courses I had taken at Conn, as well as a course on COVID-19 through St. George’s University. To tailor the tool to the understanding level of elementary aged students I worked with my supervisor who is a first grade teacher at Steward.
