Abstract
This summer I had the opportunity to work under Jacinta Meters, who is the Head Night City Editor for The Day. She taught me the niche APA writing style, how to more critically and effectively edit articles, paginate pages for easy readability, and how to get the information necessary from someone I am interviewing. I helped out with copy editing the news and opinion sections, and then paginating the local region section. I also wrote region briefs and police/fire reports, which involve speaking to the breaking news reporters about any breaking news in Southeastern Connecticut. I learned a lot more about the holistic nature of the first amendment. Most importantly about freedom of the press. No one should be allowed to dictate or change the truth in print, or any kind of media. Simply, the newspaper has the right to print the news.
