Abstract

I worked as an arts administration intern over the summer with David Dorfman Dance. David Dorfman Dance, or DDD, is a modern/post-modern dance company based in New York City. It was founded 35 years ago by the company’s Artistic Director, David Dorfman, who is also a professor of dance at Connecticut College. My role as an intern included responsibilities such as assisting with the annual summer dance intensive at Connecticut College, social media, marketing, organizing company rehearsal footage, and data entry. I would definitely recommend this internship to anyone interested in arts administration, and particularly dance administration because I learned about and experienced first-hand so many different aspects of the field. I was also able to acquire professional skills that could be applicable to positions outside of arts administration, which will be useful for Graduate school and other future endeavors.
