Abstract

This summer I had an internship opportunity with Signature Sounds in Northampton Massachusetts. This is a business that has three components to it: a record label, a venue, and music festival planning, particularly the Green River Festival. All of these events tie into music genres such as Folk, Indie, Americana, Roots, Rock, and Singer-songwriters. They have a vast number of artists, big and small that put out albums, perform at their venue, “The Parlor Room”, and they are also being booked on tours and venues around the country. I was able to work and experience roles in the record label, the venue, and the festival scene when I worked at their biggest festival: the Green River Festival. I gained connections, resources, and knowledge into the music industry during my time there and I only hope to do some of this work in my future career.
