Abstract

This paper is about the experience of a first-time intern at a small private law office based in East Meadow, New York. Dekajlo Law Offices is run by two brothers, and the main fields of law that are practiced are real estate, business, and intellectual property law. This paper goes over the likes and dislikes of interning at a small private law office, which better paves the path of what to look for in the future. Additionally, it explores how the close-knit environment of a small firm can provide unique learning opportunities and challenges compared to larger firms. By reflecting on the hands-on experience and direct involvement in diverse legal tasks, the paper aims to offer valuable insights for future interns and highlight the potential benefits and limitations of working in a smaller legal practice.
