Abstract

This essay reflects on my internship experience as a Summer Technical Associate at the White Plains Performing Arts Center (WPPAC) in White Plains, New York. Having attended numerous productions at WPPAC throughout my childhood, I was thrilled to immerse myself in a full show season for the first time. The straightforward application process benefited from connections I had made previously, allowing me to engage with a welcoming staff eager to share their knowledge. My responsibilities spanned various technical tasks, including microphone preparation, sound mixing, and projection mapping, which challenged me to adapt and apply my skills dynamically for each weekly production. As I reflect on my learning goals, I confidently assert that I not only met but exceeded my expectations, gaining invaluable experience in a collaborative environment that deepened my passion for technical theater.
