Abstract

My internship at the Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM) in the Ribot & Silva-Santos Lab provided hands-on experience in Cellular and Molecular Immunology. I gained practical skills in techniques like western blotting, cell counting, and animal handling, while also exploring IL-17’s role in neuro-immune interactions. Collaborating with PhD students and postdocs enhanced my problem-solving and communication abilities, especially in a multilingual environment. Living in Portugal strengthened my adaptability and language skills, influencing my CISLA project, which now focuses on gut microbiota from a cross-country perspective. This experience deepened my interest in biomedical research and public health.
