Abstract

This internship was a once in a lifetime experience abroad in Athens, Greece where I was able to internationally shadow clinical physicians and surgeons in multiple medical specialties: Orthopedics, ENT, general surgery, neurophysiology, endoscopy, cardiology, radiology, and more. I was able to directly compare and contrast the health care systems of Greece and the United States through observation and interdisciplinary conversations with healthcare professionals. Through my time abroad, I've further strengthened my cultural competence and improved active listening and observation skills through intensive listening and interpretation, especially in the midst of a language barrier.
