Abstract

This reflection paper explores my summer 2025 internship experience coaching squash at Harvard University and MIT. Over the course of the program, I worked with athletes ages nine to eighteen, supporting their athletic, mental, and nutritional development while also managing critical logistics such as transportation, scheduling, and meals. The paper reflects on how my original learning objectives, developing leadership, strengthening communication, and gaining organizational skills, were met through both on-court coaching and behind-the-scenes responsibilities. It also highlights how my liberal arts education prepared me to adapt to diverse challenges, the professional skills I gained, the obstacles I encountered, and the ethical responsibilities of working with youth athletes. Ultimately, this experience shaped my understanding of leadership, mentorship, and career direction, reinforcing my interest in people-centered roles that combine responsibility with passion.
