Abstract

This summer, I worked as an intern for David Dorfman Dance, a dance company based in New York City and that is the company in residence at Connecticut College. From May through August, I worked primarily in arts administration, specifically focusing on social media management and content production, and helping to organize and manage their two summer intensives taking place at Connecticut College. Reflecting on the overall experience, I could not speak more highly of my time working with the company. I was exposed to all aspects of company management, and I recognize how intentional the staff were about including me in all different parts of the company, from financials and marketing to data, and about valuing my input as a college student and a training dancer. My onboarding experience was rapid but thorough, and I enjoyed the challenges and tasks they assigned to me and the confidence they showed in my capabilities to deliver effectively.
