Abstract

Last spring, I attended the United States for Theatre Technology (USITT) national conference in Columbus, Ohio. Over the course of my time at the conference, I attended workshops/labs, networked with my peers, met the people behind the products and organizations that make up the technical theatre industry, and interviewed for (and eventually got) a job at a reputable summer stock theatre company. I came out of the conference with a much clearer understanding of what skills I needed to be successful after I graduate and a loose path to explore that would allow me to develop them. It was one of the busiest weeks of my life, and an incredible opportunity to interact with the professional world of the work that I love.
