Abstract
As a summer intern at Berries Health & Genetics Laboratory, I contributed to a range of clinical and operational activities supporting diagnostic and pharmacogenomic testing services. My responsibilities included reviewing current scientific literature and clinical guidelines to inform testing practices, assisting with pre-analytical processes such as sample collection and labeling, and supporting quality control. I participated in the review of whole exome sequencing and pharmacogenomic test results and contributed to patient outreach, including phone communication with patients and healthcare providers. I also assisted in designing digital educational and marketing materials, including brochures for whole exome sequencing in pediatric patients with intellectual disability and global developmental delay.
