Abstract
This paper covers the duties of an intern for New Jersey's Hamilton Township Department of Public Works, under the Clean Communities Coordinator, Ecological Facility Director, and Director of Solid Waste & Recycling. Daily tasks consist of data input and compost testing, as well as maintaining street and waterway quality standards. Ensuring a sanitary and safe environment for the citizens of Hamilton Township is of the utmost importance to the Clean Communities Coordinator and their respective intern. Additionally, an intern aids in the policy process for related topics, which, within this time period, refers to the alteration of township garbage disposal routes. Work in this field developed physical skills, such as organization, data analytics, and Microsoft Office tools. An intern in the Public Works Department must also learn how to conduct themselves professionally, and relate their findings to their own experience and education to better the lives of citizens to the highest degree.
