Abstract

During the 2025 Connecticut General Assembly Legislative Session, I was fortunate to intern with the Connecticut Business and Industry Association (CBIA), the state’s largest business organization and the third largest in the country. When I applied for and accepted my offer, my goal was to experience the legislative process from the perspective of an advocacy group. As a public policy intern, I supported CBIA’s lobbying team throughout the session, helping advance the interests of Connecticut’s business community. The internship’s balance of assigning me to both committees I was passionate about and committees where I could learn, along with excellent mentorship, practical writing tasks, and a final capstone project and presentation that allowed us to apply our knowledge by pitching a policy council to the team, made this a truly worthwhile experience.
