Abstract
I participated in the Global Health Experiential Fellowship hosted by Empower Through Health. The program involved one week of surgical shadowing in Jinja, Uganda in a resource limited hospital, followed by a 5 week fellowship as part of a research team in the rural village of Mpunde. My team facilitated focus groups with community stakeholders discussing potential improvement to treatment of severe mental illness in the area. The experience was challenging as a result of the setting, but an incredible opportunity to grow both as an individual and professional.
