Abstract

This paper presents an introspective reflection on my internship experience as an International Research Assistant. I explore the purpose of my research, focusing on the effect of tourism on cultural sustainability, and its culmination in the form of a publication for an international travel and experiential education company. I examine my liberal arts education as a foundation for fostering my passion for the environment, and how that led me in the direction of this experience. I contextualize my past circumstances and mindset, and their role in shaping my selection for this internship, and the direction that position has guided me in now.
