Abstract

This paper reflects on my summer internship with Exos in Rapid City, where I worked closely with a team of experienced sports performance coaches. The reflection explores how I found and secured the internship, the learning objectives I set, and the professional skills I developed — particularly recognition, cueing, and program design. I discuss how my liberal arts education and previous coaching experience prepared me to contribute quickly, eventually leading training sessions by my second week. Key moments of growth included learning to adapt programs for younger athletes and receiving feedback that confirmed my natural strengths in client communication and coaching. Ultimately, this experience deepened my commitment to pursuing a career in sports rehabilitation, inspired me to pursue my CSCS certification, and shaped the next steps in my academic and professional journey.
