Abstract

This paper reflects on my internship at Truist Bank in the credit division, highlighting how the experience bridged classroom learning in Economics and Finance with practical applications in credit evaluation, financial analysis, and risk management. Through coursework preparation, networking, and hands-on exposure, I developed technical skills in assessing financial statements and structuring credit decisions, while also strengthening professional competencies such as communication, adaptability, and relationship building. Shadowing portfolio managers and participating in calls expanded my understanding of the industry’s complexity, while living and working in Atlanta fostered personal growth, balance, and community. Overall, the internship served as a pivotal step in aligning my academic foundation with long-term career aspirations in financial services.
