Abstract
This paper reflects on my summer experience returning to Amherst Community Child Care, a Head Start Early Learning Program site under Community Action Pioneer Valley. As a substitute teacher and intern, I worked with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children while supporting their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. Throughout my experience, I strengthened skills such as adaptability, patience, collaboration, and communication while learning how to respond to the individual needs of children in the classroom. I also gained a deeper understanding of the importance of community-based resources, family support, accessibility, and advocacy. This experience built upon my previous experiences further developed my interest in social work, especially in supporting children and families.
