Abstract
My Marine Mammal Research and Education internship at the New England Aquarium allowed me to combine my interests in marine science, public education, and working on the water. I gained knowledge about whales, seabirds, and marine ecosystems while developing communication, collaboration, organization, creativity, and public speaking skills. The experience also taught me how to adapt to challenges such as rough seas and unexpected passenger incidents. Most importantly, the internship strengthened my passion for marine life and showed me that I want to pursue future research opportunities that incorporate public education and engagement.
