Abstract

This reflection highlights my experience interning a second time at the Northshore Education Consortium in Beverly, Massachusetts. I worked at the Kevin O'Grady School, the largest provider of special education services on the North Shore, where I provided direct support to male students with emotional, behavioral, and developmental disabilities. I worked with students with higher attention demand and more challenges than in my previous summer, so I the skills I had learned grew tremendously. I realized how much care and love I have for this population of students and my career goals shifted towards something focused on advocacy and bettering the mental health of these students. I don't have my career figured out quite yet, but I am excited by the opportunity that special education may be a field I end up in.
