Abstract

My internship was at the Architekturgalerie München (the Munich Architecture Gallery), which is a private architecture gallery in a World War II bunker that has been renovated and is constantly being updated. It is run by a small team, and has a lot of partnerships with local and international architecture firms, as well as other organizations in Germany. They also have some local students that take turns sitting at the Gallery to welcome people and answer questions about the exhibition and the history of the bunker. My position was for overall support, and my tasks ranged from putting together pieces of kitchen equipment to helping run events related to exhibitions, talking to artists and architects about future exhibitions, and setting up and taking down installations. There were also outside of work opportunities to connect and network with the Munich architecture community, like attending the opening of an office of a Swiss architecture firm in Munich.
