Abstract
As a Human Development and Psychology student, I am currently working towards my goal of becoming a Certified Child Life Specialist. Over the course of my three months as a Child Life Volunteer at MWPH, I spent 117 hours engaging in play, normalization, and psychosocial support with patients and families in the inpatient unit for pediatric and adolescent rehabilitation. I gained experience in medical charting, communication within a healthcare team, trauma support, and developmental play. Throughout the experience, I expanded my knowledge of professional communication, ethics, medical equity, and cross-curricular knowledge integration.
