Abstract
For the summer of 2020, I worked as an intern at the Phenotypic and Genetic Factors in Autism Spectrum Disorder Research Lab led by Dr. Hanson at Boston Children’s Hospital. I worked closely with Dr. Ellen Hanson, the director of the Neurodevelopment Disorders Developmental Program. I had multiple expectations and requirements as a Developmental Medicine intern during the weeks of summer 2020. I scored videos of lab participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), researched multiple peer-reviewed articles, and led journal clubs with the other interns. Lastly, I compiled all of my research into a final presentation that evaluated ASD stereotypic behavior in relation to physical exercise. The internship was incredible, and I will be returning to BCH in October 2020 to work on-site with other researchers and specialists in the Developmental Medicine Department.
