Abstract
This paper discusses my summer internship in the Narcotics and Investigations Bureau at the Office of the Richmond County District Attorney. The DA’s office works in partnership with local law enforcement on Staten Island by assisting in criminal investigations, prosecuting anyone who is suspected of breaking the law, and recommending sentencing, among other things. As part of the Narcotics and Investigations Bureau, I assisted the Assistant District Attorneys with various projects for different kinds of cases. I mostly watched and took notes on body-worn camera footage from police, listened to calls from inmates at Rikers, updated local records on non-fatal shootings, and redacted sensitive information from files in discovery prior to them being sent to the defense.
