Abstract

This summer, I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Global Treks and Adventures team. The internship was made up of one week of research on the Big Island of Hawaii and then remote research for the remaining time in the summer. At the end of the internship, a research guidebook was put together and will be published with the work of the interns. Additionally, each intern leaves the expedition being certified in Sustainable Tourism and Risk Management Level 1. I was on the marine team, which consisted of research, snorkeling every day, using Go Pros to capture the underwater life, the environment and the sustainability of the beaches. When I returned from the expedition, I had to write a chapter on my research focusing on coral bleaching and the sustainability of the beaches on the Big Island of Hawaii that will later be published and sold on amazon.
