Abstract
The Archeological Conservation Institute course is a summer course that gives undergraduate students hands-on experience in the field of conservational archeology, as well as classes on the history of archeological conservation. We were working on a mosaic that had been left exposed to the elements for 30 years. Our job was to clean it up and restore it so that it doesn’t deteriorate further. We then reburied the mosaic in a way that will keep it in its current state and will not be damaged further. We also took classes and learned about the history and reasoning behind conservational archeology and why it is an important field of study.
