Abstract
During the summer of 2023, I wrote a collection of poetry about love and loss, with an end goal of future publication. I worked alongside Professor Rushin as my advisor to develop my poetry and creative writing skills and to gain insight into the publication process, which Professor Rushin has mastered during her decades-long career as a published poet. Through this summer internship, I learned about a poet’s process of writing poems, all the while gaining valuable insight into the field. Funding from the ACE program allowed me to focus and make substantial progress on my poetry collection.
