Abstract

In this paper, Farah Najjari reflects on her transformative summer internship with the Sadie Nash Leadership Project, which diverged from her initial career aspirations in public interest law. Despite a background rooted in public service and community building, Najjari’s unexpected role as a facilitator for youth education challenged her preconceived notions about teaching. Through her experience, she discovered a deep fulfillment in fostering a supportive learning environment, emphasizing self-identity, social justice, and personal growth. This internship not only honed her skills in lesson planning and conflict resolution but also highlighted the significance of adaptability and direct impact. The experience shifted her career focus towards education, revealing a newfound passion for uplifting young people and enriching their lives, while also underscoring the vital support provided by the career center and funding opportunities.
