Abstract

This summer, I completed two internships that provided contrasting experiences and valuable lessons in my professional growth. Initially, I worked as an Event Hospitality Assistant and Volunteer Coordinator at Copper Beech Institute, an organization focused on mindfulness education. While I had hoped to gain insights into mindfulness and yoga classes, my role was largely logistical and did not align with my learning objectives. Despite challenges with time management, communication, and work environment stress, I developed patience, adaptability, and organizational skills. After leaving Copper Beech, I joined KidStrong, where I thrived as a coach in an athletic program for children, teaching emotional regulation and physical education. This experience exceeded my expectations, building my leadership skills and reaffirming my desire to work with children and teens. Reflecting on these experiences, I gained clarity on the type of work environment that suits me best and grew more confident in my ability to advocate for myself.
