Abstract

This paper reflects on an 8-week internship experience at Kirkland & Ellis's IT Department, where I worked with the Business Intelligence team to develop reports and dashboards crucial for supporting business services and operations. The internship provided an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data management, visualization, and risk management while collaborating with professionals across various roles. My aim to be intentional in my work led to significant growth in both technical and soft skills. Key areas of learning included the effective handling of large datasets, proficiency in tools such as Excel, PowerBI, and SQL, and the practical application of concepts to real-world projects. Regular feedback and access to additional learning resources further enhanced my development. Overall, the experience was instrumental in bridging the gap between academic concepts and professional practice, providing a solid foundation for my future career in the IT and data fields.
