Abstract

This summer I worked with the Connecticut College Arboretum as a curatorial intern. In this role, I learned from and collaborated with former Curator and Information Resource Manager, Jason Eklund, to inventory the southern half of the Campus Landscape Collection (CLC). This work involved taking measurements and assessing the condition of trees and shrubs in the CLC, entering this data into shared databases, and altering the digital interactive maps of these areas. During this internship I explored pathways previously unknown to me, ultimately learning the key (and often behind the scenes) aspects of running a botanical garden or arboretum. My summer spent with the Connecticut College Arboretum was more successful than I could have ever imagined and I am thrilled to bring the amazing knowledge gained from this experience into my senior year of college and SIP.
