Abstract
This summer (2024), I worked as a legislative intern with the U.S. House of Representatives Rules Committee Democratic Staff in Washington, DC. My days would usually be filled with one of three activities: prepping materials for a Rules Committee meeting in the Capitol Building, working on my independent research project, or writing memos on hearings from the committee of jurisdiction. I learned more about the legislative process and House operations, gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for the functioning of our government, and was able to develop my skills working in a professional environment.
