Abstract

This paper reflects my personal and professional growth through a transformative internship at IRIS (Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting refugees and immigrants. Faced with uncertainty about my career path and an unfeasible plan to take the LSAT, I sought clarity by pursuing an internship that aligned with my evolving interests. My role on the Community Engagement and Outreach team allowed me to develop skills in journalism, marketing, and data management while promoting independence and creative problem-solving. The culmination of my summer internship, marked by an offer to continue my work as a part-time employee, has reinforced the importance of flexibility and embracing unexpected opportunities as it leads to personal discovery.
