Abstract
**Abstract:**
Over the summer of 2024, I interned with the David Dorfman Dance Company and participated in a research project on an HBCU student exchange program at Connecticut College. Working alongside Professor Eileen Kane and fellow students, our research focused on the 1960s exchange program with Spelman College and its influence on civil rights activism among Conn alumni. This project aims to inspire the renewal of an HBCU exchange, fostering cross-cultural learning and enriching academic opportunities for both POC and non-POC students. Concurrently, my internship with David Dorfman Dance enhanced my technical dance skills, creativity, and collaborative abilities, as I worked on choreography and teaching younger students. Managing these two roles developed my time management, communication, and research skills, while also fostering personal growth in areas such as confidence and adaptability. This experience underscored the importance of maintaining a positive workplace environment and taught me to appreciate the value of structure and self-assurance in both research and dance.
