Abstract
This summer internship was driven by a desire to explore potential career paths, particularly between healthcare and research. In order to get a firsthand experience, I scoped out opportunities in university research labs at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), and the University of California, Riverside (UCR). After a period of networking and preparation, I accepted an opportunity at Dr. Fang Jiang’s psychology lab at UNR, where I immersed myself in the research environment alongside graduate students. This internship contributed to develop further my skills in communication, organization, and leadership, and better understand the demands of graduate-level research. I led study protocols, conducted literature reviews, and gained valuable insights into the research process. This opportunity reinforced my interest in research while providing essential skills for my future career decisions.
