Abstract
STARU is a program that allows underprivileged students the opportunity to pursue research experiences. It includes mentorship from a Columbia faculty member on an individualized research project focusing on neuroscience, seminar series, journal clubs, lectures and shadowing opportunities. Along with the educational aspects they provide students with professional networking, social events and career development activities such as linkedin headshots, parties with faculty, and organized social gatherings for students and staff.
