Abstract
This summer, I spent five and a half weeks at Tippett Studio, an animation and visual effects company led by Oscar and Emmy Award-winning Phil Tippett. I had the incredible opportunity to be on-site at their location in Berkeley, California, where I got to observe and work alongside professional artists and animators. While the bulk of my work time was committed to the studio’s ongoing archiving project, a large portion of what I gained from this experience was just learning how to live on my own. As a part of working at this studio, I had to sign an NDA. This was a new experience for me, and I was super excited to find out what the big project that they were working on was. My work at the studio consisted of working on their archiving project. They have a seemingly infinite amount of old binders, folders, portfolios, slides, photographs, even maquettes and sculptures from both old and never-finished projects and movies that have yet to be digitized in any way. In my five and a half weeks there I think I barely made a dent, even though I took thousands of pictures.
