Abstract

This paper reflects on my summer internships with the Cohasset Historical Society and the Scituate Maritime and Irish Mossing Museum, where I explored the intersection of anthropology, art history, and local heritage. Working with archival materials, curating exhibits, and organizing public events allowed me to connect classroom learning to professional practice. I developed technical skills in preservation and digitization, as well as transferable abilities such as communication, creativity, and collaboration. Evaluating my performance revealed strengths in organization and initiative, along with a preference for roles that combine research with public engagement. These experiences broadened my understanding of how museums and historical societies preserve community memory and gave me insight into the environments in which I thrive.
