Abstract
This summer I was a research intern in the Neuroscience Summer Undergraduate Research Program (NeuroSURP) at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. As a part of this program I conducted research in a lab at an R1 instutution where I learned and refined a number of different techniques such as confocal microscopy, surgical headcap implantation in rodents, perfusion, animal husbandry, optogenetic kindling, EEG analysis, cryosectioning, and immunofluorescence, among others. As a result of this program I was asked to remain a member of the lab and to return as a full time research assistant upon graduation before beginning graduate school.
