Abstract

The American College of Physicians internship was a pivotal experience that contributed significantly to both my professional development and personal growth. Initially uncertain about accepting a position focused on public health and health equity, I was ultimately challenged and enriched by the opportunity. Working within the Medical Education Division, I developed critical communication, collaboration, and analytical skills, while also gaining insight into the broader impact physicians can have beyond clinical practice. Despite facing difficulties, I learned to adapt, advocate for myself, and remain resilient in unfamiliar circumstances. This experience affirmed my commitment to becoming a physician and highlighted the value of my liberal arts education in fostering a more inclusive and empathetic approach to healthcare.
