Abstract
Partners For World Health is an organization working to simultaneously mitigate environmental waste and increase access to affordable healthcare by collecting surplus medical materials from local hospitals and organizations. They then sort through these supplies and package them up in shipping containers to be sent to countries overseas in need of readily available and clean medical equipment. They also provide services to their local communities by partnering with other non-profits to help make healthcare more affordable to those who need it. I worked at PWH as an operations intern where I mostly managed volunteers and oversaw the warehouse's donations on a daily basis. I also conducted research on expanding partnerships to increase the organization's donation intake as well as helped improve efficiency by redesigning one of the medical supply categories. It did not require any background knowledge in pre-med at all and was a very fulfilling experience.
