Abstract
This reflection paper examines my summer internship at the Joseph Nee Collaborative Center in South Boston, Massachusetts. During my internship, I helped coordinate community events, create harm reduction kits, develop an overdose response course, and assist with creating a camp for children from homes affected by substance and alcohol abuse. These experiences strengthened my communication, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills while introducing me to nonprofit and community mental health work. Overall, the internship helped clarify my passion for social work and reinforced my goal of pursuing a master’s degree and a career in mental health and community support.
