Abstract

Hearing Youth Voices is an organization whose mission is to empower youth black and brown voices in and around the New London community. As an intern who lived in their newly established residential program at the very beginning, I was involved in a lot of the early adjustments to the house environment (i.e. ambient temperature, communal kitchen supply organization, etc.). I also participated in lots of community education and promoted voter conscientiousness at events in line with the efforts of the team throughout the spring. Working with this team of organizers gave me a personal perspective on how hard they work and what they do to keep a thriving community organization like HYV pushing forward!
