Abstract

This reflection discusses my experience as an Investment Banking Summer Analyst in the Financial Institutions Group at Lucid Capital Markets in New York City. Throughout the summer, I developed technical skills through financial analysis, valuation work, and exposure to live transactions. As the only intern on my team, I had the opportunity to work closely with experienced bankers and participate in client meetings, which helped me better understand the relationship between financial analysis and strategic decision-making. The experience highlighted the differences between academic finance and its practical application, particularly in challenging market conditions. I also gained a greater appreciation for attention to detail, professional communication, and asking thoughtful questions. Overall, the internship strengthened my understanding of investment banking and provided a foundation for my upcoming Summer 2027 internship at SMBC.
